Graduate Students

I am recruiting a Ph.D. student to join my lab in the Department of Wildlife, Fish, and Conservation Biology at the University of California, Davis at the start of the 2027-2028 academic year (applications due this Fall, 2026). Core research areas in our lab group include: (1) applying ecological theory towards understanding and managing biodiversity in working landscapes, especially in the face of climate change and other stressors; (2) quantifying the effects of alternative agricultural practices on crop pests, predators, and their interactions, and (3) identifying tradeoffs among biodiversity and ecosystem services to inform development of multi-functional landscapes. While much of our work focuses on birds in agroecosystems, we also work with other taxa and in other systems.

Applicants must have graduated with a bachelor’s degree in ecology or related field by June 2027. The ideal applicant would be self-motivated, driven, and a good community member, with prior experience conducting field work, analyzing data, and leading their own research project.
